Liaison Scheme


HOME/SCHOOL LIAISON


Blakestown Community School is a participant in the Home/School/Community Liaison Scheme.

In general the Home/School Liaison teacher will support parents in relation to their children’s’ education.

More specifically, the Home/School Liaison teacher will -

  • Visit Parents in their home to support and advise on educational matters;
  • Meet with parents at their request;
  • Call to homes when poor attendance suggests a student maybe in need of support;
  • Liaise regularly with year heads and attendance secretary;
  • Link with support services such as the School Completion Programme and Blakestown/Mountview Youth Initiative;
  • Liaise with the feeder primary schools – Scoil Mhuire, Blakestown and St. Philip’s Mountview on all matters relating to the transfer of pupils from first to second level;
  • Assist with registration of new students and with the entrance assessment tests;
  • Organise morning classes for parents;
  • Maintain a comfortable and welcoming parents’ room;
  • Be an active participant in the Care Team;
  • Assist in the work of the local committee
  • Work co-operatively with the Home/School Liaison teachers from other local schools.
     
  • Assist the Principal and the senior management team in all matters relating to parents.
  • Carry out other duties in consultation with the Principal.

Catherine is usually in the Staffroom from 8.45 to 9.00 each morning if teachers wish to request home visits.
